How Important is Price?
"There is hardly anything in the world that
someone can't make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people
who consider price only are this man's lawful prey."
[John Ruskin 1819 - 1900]
Price? It is very important. Much of the work we do could cost several thousands
of dollars. This is why you want to make sure that your hard earned money
is being spent wisely.
There are many reasons why prices for what seems like the same work could vary.
Some of them are:
 |
Proposals not the same |
Contractors are not including the same work. Make sure you get a complete
explanation of all the work being proposed. You will find that our
proposals are usually much more detailed than others you might get.
Compare their proposal to ours. Be
wary of proposals that just say "Install new "X". When in
doubt, please call us. We will be happy to help you compare proposals.
 |
Materials not the same |
We attempt to find the materials that will
perform the best, not materials that are the cheapest. There are many materials available
to us that are cheaper but would not perform nearly as well.
 |
Labor costs not the same |
Again, we do not attempt to find the
cheapest labor. We are proud of the talent and skill of our installers.
We do not have a high turnover because our installers like to work for a
company that likes to do good work. As a result, many contractors could
have much cheaper and less skilled and dedicated employees.
 |
Insurance |
As you can imagine, the home improvement
industry, as a whole, does not have the best reputation. Insurance
companies know that. It is a high-risk profession for them and, as a
result, insurance has become almost impossible for contactors to obtain.
Many contractors now do not have
insurance to protect you and your property.
Due to our reputation, we protect you with insurance for general liability and
workers compensation. Please make sure that any contactor you may be
considering is insured and can provide you with insurance certificates that
looks like this.
